comPanrama console : practical making
The comPanrama console is at present (in April, 2008) in the state of prototype. It is life-size and works normally.
Its cost is :
- 100 € for the mirror
- 1000 € for the second-hand DLP videoprojector (however this last one, not being absolutely modified, is also used as home-cinema)
All the rest is of the material of recovery.
The Dome
It is cardboard of got back packaging.
At first I wanted to make a simple model, just to realize; but the good behavior of the cardboard makes that it is still in service.
It is about rather thick cardboard, cut in slices (the dome is built as half a melon) stuck by the edge with some white wood glue.

The frame
As the console with cylindrical screen previous one, the frame is made with tubes of steel 25 mm in diameter assembled with spherical joints.
But some wood would agree as well.

The mirror
It is the delicate point of the system. By reason of economy we use a security mirror which was conceived for a quite other use.
Some models agree better than of the others. Difficult, without buying them all, to determine the most adapted model.

The software
No projection with spherical mirror without a specific software.
Contrary to the systems with fisheye, there is no optics capable of compensating for the deformation led by the spherical mirror.
This spot is reserved for the computer.
It was necessary to wait that powerful computers are accessible to develop this technique.
